We're so pleased you're interested in becoming a host family. Here's the details you need to know.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Once you've decided you'd like to work with us, you'll need to complete an application. The application will guide you through several key areas that we need to understand about you, your family, and your requirements from live out help. You'll also need to complete a detailed profile, which potential candidates can view during the matching process. You'll also need at least 2 photos of your family.
Once you've completed your application, we'll contact you for an interview and assessment, where we'll discuss your specific needs, and also be able to answer any specific questions you have about working with us.
For families, we believe in transparent pricing from the outset with no hidden costs. It is free for families to register and to apply; we will only charge you once a successful placement has been made (i.e. when your family and an aspiring live out helper are a match).
Our placement fees depend on the childcare experience of your HomegrownHelper and apply on contracts of six months or more (the fee will be pro-rata if the contract is less than 6 months) as follows:
Essential Help $500
Placement fee for our HomegrownHelpers with some babysitting experience. This helper should be able to care for children aged 3+.
Extra Help $600
Placement fee for our HomegrownHelpers with a little EXTRA insofar as childcare experience is concerned. This helper should generally be able to care for children ages 2+.
Complete Help $700
Placement fee for our HomegrownHelpers with at least 6-12 months childcare work experience or who has studied childcare/teaching. Depending on experience, this helper may be able to look after children under 24 months.
It is a requirement for all helpers to complete The Working With Children Check (WWCC), prior to their placement. The WWCC involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of any reportable workplace misconduct.
MATCHING YOU WITH A HELPER
Once you've completed your application, and we've conducted our assessment, we'll start looking for helpers that will be a suitable match for you, your experience, and your preferences, straight away!
You'll receive detailed profile information about any potential helpers, and will have an opportunity to join them for a video call if you think they will be a good match for you.
Once we've matched you with the right helper for you, and you're comfortable that you'd like to work with them, we'll provide you with some suggested tools and resources, including a pro forma contract which you can use if you choose to do so. We recommend detailing your expectations, and confirming information regarding the helper's expected rates of pay, work hours, and any holiday details you agree with them. Prior to your au pair placement beginning, we'll require payment in full for our matching service. You'll be supplied with a digital invoice, and there are a range of options for online payment. Your au pair will organise their own travel to your home, and be ready to start their experience on your agreed date.
We'll check in with you by telephone before your placement starts, during the first week of the placement, and again at some stage during the first month of your placement, make sure everything is working out as expected, or if there are any areas of concern. If you're not satisfied with the initial au pair we have placed with you, we will provide you with a complimentary re-match following their first 30 days.
