We're so pleased you're interested in becoming a host family. Here's the details you need to know.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Once you've decided you'd like to work with us, you'll need to complete an application.

If you are interested in finding an au pair, read on. If you are interested in finding Live Out help, please click here for further information about the tailored Live Out application process.

The application will guide you through several key areas that we need to understand about you, your family, and your requirements from an au pair. You'll also need to complete a detailed profile, which potential au pair's can view during the matching process. You'll also need at least 2 photos of your family, and 1 of the room you'll make available to your new au pair.

Prior to any potential placement starting, anyone over 18 years of age in your home will need to complete a police check. You can begin the application process here.

Once you've completed your application, we'll contact you for an interview and assessment, where we'll discuss your specific needs, and also be able to answer any specific questions you have about working with us.

OUR PRICING & WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM OUR AU PAIRS

For families, we believe in transparent pricing from the outset with no hidden costs. It is free for families to register and to apply; we will only charge you once a successful placement has been made (i.e. when your family and an aspiring au pair are a match). Families will have to fund their police checks.

Our placement fees depend on the childcare experience of your au pair and apply on contracts of six months or more (the fee will be pro-rata if the contract is less than 6 months) as follows:

Essential Au Pair $1,000

Placement fee for our Homegrown au pairs with some babysitting experience. This au pair should be able to care for children aged 3+.

Extra Au Pair $1,200

Placement fee for our Homegrown au pairs with a little EXTRA insofar as childcare experience is concerned. This au pair should generally be able to care for children ages 2+.

Complete Au Pair $1,400

Placement fee for our Homegrown au pairs with at least 6-12 months childcare work experience or who has studied childcare/teaching. Depending on experience, this au pair may be able to look after children under 24 months.

It is a requirement for all au pairs to complete The Working With Children Check (WWCC), prior to their placement. The WWCC involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of any reportable workplace misconduct.

MATCHING YOU WITH AN AU PAIR

Once you've completed your application, and we've conducted our assessment, we'll start looking for au pairs that will be a suitable match for you, your experience, and your preferences, straight away!

You'll receive detailed profile information about any potential au pairs, and will have an opportunity to join them for a video call if you think they will be a good match for you.

Once we've matched you with the right au pair for you, and you're comfortable that you'd like to work with them, we'll provide you with some suggested tools and resources, including a pro forma contract which you can use if you choose to do so. We recommend detailing your expectations, and confirming information regarding the au pairs expected rates of pay, work hours, and any holiday details you agree with them. You can find out more about contract arrangements in our FAQs.

YOUR PLACEMENT

Prior to your au pair placement beginning, we'll require payment in full for our matching service. You'll be supplied with a digital invoice, and there are a range of options for online payment. Your au pair will organise their own travel to your home, and be ready to start their experience on your agreed date.

We'll check in with you by telephone before your placement starts, during the first week of the placement, and again at some stage during the first month of your placement, make sure everything is working out as expected, or if there are any areas of concern. If you're not satisfied with the initial au pair we have placed with you, we will provide you with a complimentary re-match following their first 30 days.

The rest is up to you! We're sure you're going to enjoy the experience of hosting an au pair, and that you'll not only benefit from the flexibility and support this arrangement can bring, but also develop some incredible memories, and enjoy watching your children develop close bonds with your au pair!
